Polo Argentina Experience
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer. Meet the ponies. La Esperanza

Arrive into Buenos Aires. Take a private transfer to Coronal Suarez in an air-conditioned private taxi.

Depending on arrival time meet the ponies, take a brief tour of the Club then enjoy our first dinner at La Esperanza.

Dinner here is a late affair. We will join three generations of the Bertola family in the club dining room to enjoy delicious, simple meals prepared with locally produced meat and vegetables. Enjoy the Gaucho asado, succulent steaks and lamb, barbecued to perfection on the outdoor Asado. Sit back and relax as you enjoy a glass robust red wine.

Sleep soundlessly in your comfortable bed as you prepare for tomorrows play.

Includes:Dinner at La Esperanza (including wine)

Meet the ponies
Days 2 to 4: Polo tuition. Matches. La Esperanza
After meeting for breakfast we warm up on the field with some exercise drills before practicing our stick and ball skills. This is followed by a chukka practice.

We return to the clubhouse for a light healthy lunch before retiring for a siesta away from the heat of the Argentine sun.

In the late afternoon we return to the fields for either more practice chukkas or a polo match.

After a stimulating day on the polo fields and afternoon tea we retire to our comfortable accommodation. Relax on the shaded 'quincho' (patio), in our rooms or take a dip in the heated outdoor pool, enclosed by scented roses and lavender.

Dinner at La Esperanza where we will again enjoy the warmth and hospitality of the Bertola family.

Includes: Breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner (wine included with dinner).
Hours in the saddle: 3 hours approximately

Day 5: Morning practice. Transfer to La Catalina

After breakfast prepare for your final morning of polo practice, as you work through everything you have learned over the last three days.

Lunch at La Esperanza In the afternoon we say goodbye to the club before transferring to La Catalina. This vast 4,000-acre estancia is an hours drive south, is set in the tranquil Sierra de la Ventana at the end of the Argentine Pampas.

In the early evening we saddle up sure-footed Criollos as we join the ranch team in their skilled work or ride out into this peaceful landscape where the pampas finally join the mountains.

Dinner at La Catalina. The kitchen serves excellent dishes freshly prepared from local ingredients. A typical diner might be would be: a glass of champagne as an aperitif, tasty artisan meats and cheeses, a pasta dish followed by succulent Argentine steak, accompanied by a robust red wine.

Day 6: Ranch work. Rides out. La Catalina

We rise early for breakfast. Our work begins before the sun reaches its zenith.

In the morning we test our pioneering spirit as we join the ranchers in their skilled work, moving or herding cattle or horses, corralling livestock or riding out for ranch inspections.  (As this is a working ranch the daily activities vary depending upon the tasks necessary for ranch operations).

In the Sierra de La Ventana we will see majestic free-roaming stallions running free with brood-mares and foals. These beautiful horses are part of La Catalina's breeding programme.

After lunch we retire from the heat of the day to rest for a much-earned siesta.

As the evening cools we resume our ranch work,  slowly ascending over rocky terrain and grasslands back into the mountains. We may prefer to take an easier trail ride around the ranch lands. This fertile landscape supports vast arrays of wild life. We may spot guanacos, wild boar, wild horses and puma or even a rare huemel (deer). An abundance of prairie birds soar high overhead in the infinite skies.

Dinner at La Catalina where the team will be on hand to answer our questions about the ranch.

Included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner (wine included with dinner)
Hours in the saddle:  TBC on day
