6-Day Cowboy Ride
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive into Bogota
Arrive in Bogota, the capital of Colombia.  You will be met and greeted at El Dorado airport by an English speaking guide and transported to a 4-star hotel in Bogota where you will have dinner in one of the city's excellent restaurants.

Bogota is over 9.000ft above sea level and can be chilly much like a Spring day, however the sun is also extra strong at this altitude during the day.  It is advisable to drink plenty of water and keep alcohol consumption to a minimum during acclimatization.

Day 2: Transfer to Honda
After breakfast you will be met by your English speaking guide, who will be with you throughout your stay.  You will be given a short briefing before transferring to Honda by road in a private minibus.  After leaving the city of Bogota the road traverses the magnificent Andes mountains where you can experience the change in climate and enjoy spectacular views.

Honda is situated on the banks of the mighty Magdalena River and basks in hot weather all year round.  You will be taken to the Boutique Hotel, Posada Las Trampas in Honda which will be your home during your stay.

After lunch we transfer to Hacienda El Truinfo to meet some of the cowboys, select your horse and enjoy a short introductory briefing and ride to round up the milking cows.

Day 3: Ride
Today, after breakfast we will transfer to Hacienda El Truinfo where we will meet our horses and set off across the farm in the company of some of the cowboys.  We will cross rivers and ride through jungle and hopefully see howler monkeys, wild boar, tortoise, iguana, birds and butterflies.

At a cowboy outpost, while the horses rest in a corral we shall enjoy a typical Colombian meal cooked on an open fire.

After lunch we shall check the girths and remount our horses and after a short briefing, set off to round up a herd of cattle to drive to the main corral.
