Torres del Paine is magical all year round
Chile offers some of the best trekking in the world. The Torres del Paine National Park in southern Patagonia is a trekking mecca and Chile's prized gem. The broadcaster and explorer Michael Palin has described it as the most beautiful place on earth with treks passing through an incredible diversity of scenery, vegetation and wildlife. They meander through ancient southern beech forests, past unfathomably blue lakes and up to 50,000 year old glaciers and tumbling ice falls. All of this is framed by huge granite monoliths and towering peaks of the Andes mountains that form the natural frontier between Chile and Argentina to the east.

With over 30 other National Parks to explore and discover, Chile is a dream destination for hikers.

Visiting in Winter? We offer four unique and exciting trips during the Patagonian winter - the widest selection of any local operator. They vary in length from one action packed Full Day in Torres del Paine to a 9-Day Patagonian Safari - they are all available on request between May and October. For more details, please refer to the Pura Paine Winter Trip, the Pura Patagonia Winter Trip, the NEW Snow Shoes Hiking Trip and the NEW Winter Multi-sport Trip offering an unprecedented six activities in one trip (this trip can be found by clicking on the Multiactivity banner above).

BlueGreen Adventures has been organizing guided, fully supported trekking departures in southern Chile for nearly 20 years. Specializing in both scheduled trekking departures for solo travellers and friends and custom/private departures for families, couples or hiking clubs we offer well-planned, innovative itineraries that introduce our guests not only to the unique landscape of Torres del Paine but the people and wildlife that it sustains.

Our trademark is authenticity and we strive to adhere to the highest standards while maintaining an ethical conscience.

In addition to Torres del Paine, we can arrange trekking in other national parks and regions of Chile. A small selection of these trekking trips is on this website but if you do not find what you are looking for, contact us for advice and suggestions.

Research demonstrates that supporting local businesses that protect pristine natural areas helps to ensure their sustainable future. We have never been more aware of the need for conscious living and this extends to all aspects of our lives.

BlueGreen invites you to join us in a travel experience that positively impacts the people and places we treasure.

Fitness and Terrain
We offer many itineraries to suit both the occasional walker wanting to enjoy moderate trails trails (with vehicle support) and the experienced, dedicated hiker wanting to accomplish some of Paine's more challenging trails off the beaten track.

If you do not see what you are looking for on our website, please get in touch and we can help you plan a suitable itinerary - whatever your requirements.

For hikes in Torres del Paine, the type of hiking depends on the specific itinerary but generally speaking our trips are moderate - challenging. The terrain can be rocky and boggy on some of the trails and the last section of the hike to the Towers (Paine treks) is a 'mountain goat' hop over glacial moraine. This is however a there-and-back trek so you only need go as far as you feel comfortable.

Trips requiring a greater level of fitness and stamina are the Torres del Paine Circuit owing to the nature of the trail. The section on the Pass is steep and can be made more difficult if the weather is bad. The famous Torres del Paine W hike, so called because of the letter 'w' formed when the route is traced onto a map, offers moderate fully supported hiking with camping and lodge options both available.

Custom or Scheduled Hikes
Hikers can choose a scheduled group departure (see departure dates on the respective trip page) or we can arrange any of our itineraries as a custom or private trip. We are one of the few operators able to work in such a flexible way and we do not penalize private clients, other than by introducing the standard small group supplement that would be payable on a scheduled tour.

Why not combine your hiking in Patagonia with a few days at a surf beach on the central coast or spend some time exploring the cobbled hilly streets of Valparaiso near Santiago. If wine is your thing, take a bike tour of the vineyards and combine this with a gastro/walking tour of Santiago. Add on some sand surfing and spa time in the Atacama desert.

Chile's diverse landscape and long coastline makes any activity possible and with over 30 national parks to choose from, it is a hikers' dream destination.

We can tailor a departure to suit just about any requirement. In fact we pride ourselves on our ability to do this. So if you would like the true Chile or Argentina experience designed by the experts, contact us with as much information as possible and we will come up with a suitable itinerary to tempt you.
