Custom Travel in Patagonia

Get Inspired

The best Patagonian journeys are deeply personal. Drawing on nearly 30 years of local knowledge and client feedback we have gathered a collection of adventures and experiences, which we call Elements. Think of these Elements as building blocks.

Simply tick your favourites and click enquire. We will use them as a starting point for a personal journey designed around you, your group or family (minimum two people).

Elements

Elements (marked with an E) can be combined with each other and with standalone trips, some of which are below them.

E

Encounter wildlife

Patagonia rewards those who slow down and pay attention. Penguins, whales, guanacos, condors, puma to name a few; scan the steppe for movement, watch condors soaring on the thermals, stand watch for whales or dolphins. Tell us about your wildlife wish list and we will shape an itinerary around it. See Wildlife and Photography.

E

Take a boat charter

Patagonia’s waterways offer everything from scenic glacier cruises and lake crossings to longer journeys through fjords and remote wilderness areas. A private charter unlocks an even more remote and wild side of the region for you, your family or group.

E

Kayak with whales

Sail and kayak close to whales between the fjords and glaciers of the Magellan Straits in this transformational full day excursion out of Punta Arenas. Paddle out into a pristine and abundant natural environment for an unforgettable up close encounter with humpback whales, a memorable addition to your custom Patagonia adventure.

E

Sleep outside

Camping is one of the best ways to experience Patagonia for families and those wanting to get out into nature. Disconnect from distractions and reconnect with nature. We provide all camping equipment, put up your tent and, where possible, include a camp cook to prepare delicious outside meals.

E

Live like a gaucho

Rise with the sun, saddle your horse and ride deep into Patagonia’s backcountry alongside working gauchos. Days are shaped by the needs of the estancia; moving livestock, checking remote outposts and navigating vast landscapes. Nights are spent in simple lodgings, swapping stories over hearty meals and earning a deeper understanding of a culture forged by horses. Hardy, experienced riders only.

E

Track wild horses

At the heart of this journey is one of Patagonia’s few female estancieras, dedicated to protecting the wild bagual horses of Sierra Baguales. Once seen as a nuisance, these untamed herds are now central to her conservation work. Spend time on the estancia to learn about the project, enjoy local hospitality and experience the dramatic landscapes of the Sierra Baguales. Full details coming to our Wild Horse Experience.

E

Private chef cook out

Elevate your Patagonia adventure with a private chef experience. Whether at a remote estancia or wilderness campsite, our private chefs create menus showcasing local ingredients. Feast on Patagonian lamb or fresh river trout, thoughtfully prepared and paired with regional wines and beers that reflect the character of southern Patagonia.

E

Take a remote hike

The W and The Circuit are Torres del Paine’s most popular hikes but there are also a wealth of opportunities to explore some of the area’s lesser known trails such as the side hike to La Avanzada from the Dickson Valley, or the short but intense hike to the dramatic Mt Ferrier look-out. Some of the options are only available with a licensed guide, if you are seeking solitude, great scenery, and serious adventure ask us for details.

E

Zodiac adventure

Swap the road for Patagonia’s waterways with a boat and Zodiac journey linking Puerto Natales and Torres del Paine. Side trips include a walk to Serrano Glacier and a traditional gaucho asado. For a BlueGreen twist, add wild camping, horseback riding, glacier hikes, or a night at a remote glacier lodge. See Wilderness Explorer.

E

Sunrise trek to Towers

Leaving at first light, hike through forests, valleys, and glacial terrain to the base of the iconic Towers. The final view is unforgettable, a reward that captures the essence of Torres del Paine’s scale and wild beauty. Sleeping at Chileno gives you a head start.

E

Feast on an asado

The process is unhurried, reflecting the rhythm and traditions of life in Patagonia. Slow down, connect with local traditions and enjoy the simple pleasure of good food in an extraordinary setting.

Why Travel with BlueGreen Adventures

We have been operating fully supported, guided adventure and exploratory trips in and around the spectacular Torres del Paine National Park in southern Chile for nearly 30 years. We were an early pioneer of the ‘travel local’ ethos when we launched our first trip in 1997.

We also work with a small network of local experts and niche operators in other parts of Chile, Argentina and Antarctica all of whom have the same ethos and work to the same high standards as we do. With the benefit of our local office in Puerto Natales you will receive up to the minute local knowledge and advice.

At BlueGreen we like to stay ahead of the crowd. We invest time and resources researching new destinations, trails and accommodation to come up with exciting, accurate and reliable trip ideas. We ride them; we trek them, building lasting relationships with local providers along the way.
