Live the life of a real Patagonian cowboy
An estancia is a farm or ranch that raises either cattle or sheep. The entire area of Patagonia is essentially a number of estancias strung together between the Pacific Ocean in the west and the Atlantic ocean in the east. In fact, the Torres del Paine National Park was an estancia before it became a National Park.
We were the first company to offer this type of accommodation in the area with the introduction of our Estancia Ride where clients ride from ranch to ranch. In fact, we are very proud to have been instrumental in the development of some of the local estancias for tourism and are still the experts when it comes to this form of agritourism in the area.
BlueGreen Adventures is very pleased to advise on stays in any of the region's estancias - both in Chile and Argentina. One of our favourites and one which is run by dear friends is Estancia Tercera Barranca owned and managed by Don Pepe Rajcevic and his family.
This lovely, intimate estancia is situated on the eastern perimeters of Torres del Paine details of which appear below.
Estancia Tercera Barranca
Stay at an authentic estancia with pretty rooms, views of the Towers and access to one of the world's greatest National Parks.
Estancia Tercera Barranca is located on the perimeters of Torres del Paine National Park due east of Laguna Azul. It is a 30 minute drive to the Laguna Amarga Park entrance and approximately 130 km from Puerto Natales.
If you are seeking something different this peaceful retreat in a uniquely Patagonian setting will expose you to life on one of the world's southern most ranches.
In addition to the accommodation offered in the cosy ranch house, BlueGreen in conjunction with Estancia Tercera now offers camping where you can enjoy fully serviced, remote camping in a tranquil and authentic environment while observing the daily life of the baqueanos (local horseman). As part of the discreet development of this site, we have recently installed environmentally friendly toilets providing our guests with a more comfortable camping experience while also preserving the environment.
Camping at Puesto Tercera is a great option for families or small groups. A night or two here can be combined with other accommodation or longer pack trips and we can even arrange for horses to be delivered to your tent with a personal chef to cook for you (subject to availability). Ask for details!
