Abdias Puchi, known to his friends as Puchi, has been riding horses most of his life. Growing up, he was inspired by his uncles who were skilled horsemen and he developed a profound connection with these majestic animals. He felt a calling to work with horses in a compassionate and understanding manner.

Puchi’s approach stands in stark contrast to the traditional methods of taming horses in the area. He believes that each person shares a unique bond with their horse, one that is nurtured through time, patience and mutual respect. Puchi listens, allowing the horses to guide him in discovering the best way of working together.

This innovative and gentle method has not only earned Puchi the respect of the horses but also widespread recognition and accolades throughout the region of Patagonia where he lives and works. His approach is both different and effective, proving that kindness and understanding can achieve remarkable results in horsemanship.

In addition to working with horses, Puchi also works with other riders, imparting the wisdom of the whispererto those eager to learn. Horsemanship is deeply ingrained in the culture of Patagonia; the indigenous Tehuelche people, known for their nomadic lifestyle, utilised horses to expand their hunting range and enhance their mobility across the vast Patagonian plains centuries ago. The climate is harsh and its people remain resilient. Beneath the rugged exterior of this Patagonian horseman there lies a heart full of warmth and kindness, dedicated to forging harmonious partnerships between humans and horses.

Bluegreen is proud to be working with Puchi and benefitting from his unique knowledge and talent on our future riding trips in and around Torres del Paine. To learn more and for the opportunity to ride with Puchi click here for details
