What we offer…

Patagonia is our back yard and, if you know where to look, it is the ultimate escape. However you choose to relax and unwind we are confident you will find your travel nirvana among the awe-inspiring and diverse landscapes of Chile and Argentina – contact us for thoughtful ways to get lost in nature.

Wilderness is defined as a natural landscape that is unchanged and unaltered by human activity or agriculture. Immersing oneself in wild areas is profoundly important for both physical and mental well-being offering a crucial respite from the relentless pace of modern life. Many of our guests are increasingly looking for wild experiences for themselves or their family that gets them away from beeping phones and into the backcountry or hinterland. These immersions lay the groundwork for creating important family memories and stronger connections to each other and oneself. They also foster empathy and understanding of different cultures and points of view which results in a more worldly approach to life and a deeper appreciation of the environment.

Soak up the sun in Zapallar

Summary

Experience true bliss with a few nights in an oceanfront hotel in the upscale and picturesque beach town of Zapallar on Chile’s central coast. This little-known beach hideaway, popular with Santiaguinos, is located a couple of hours north west of Santiago and it is a great place to bask in the sun and take it easy for a few days. Stroll along the boardwalks through the pine forests before swimming in the inviting turquoise waters or simply linger over a plate of fresh seafood from a beachfront cafe as you watch the swimmers jumping the waves.

Destinations
Our Recommendation

We would recommend combining Zapallar with a visit to the enchanting UNESCO site of Valparaiso with it’s bohemian charm, rich maritime history and lively cultural scene. Or Vina del Mar, a coastal gem often dubbed the Garden City with a pretty coastline, elegant gardens and lively festivals.

Escape to the driest desert in the world, the Atacama Desert

Summary

This area is home to a number of all inclusive hotels and resorts that are located among the arid landscapes. The majority are in the area of San Pedro de Atacama and they offer a haven to rest and recharge among vast salt flats, lunar-like valleys and towering volcanoes. Many offer spacious suites that boast panoramic views with personal service catering to your every whim whether that involves pampering with a revitalizing spa treatment or stargazing under the clearest skies on Earth. Alternatively we can arrange a few nights in an authentic small hotel in San Pedro with guided daily excursions including e-biking, nomad safaris and astronomy evenings.

Destinations
Our Recommendation

We can help you select the most suitable hotel for your stay. We recommend three nights in the area to justify the travel time and soak up the surroundings. The nearest airport is Calama, a domestic airport offering flights to Santiago and onwards to other Chile destinations.

Disconnect from technology on a Patagonian Estancia

Summary

An estancia is a farm or ranch that raises either cattle or sheep. The entire area of Patagonia is essentially a number of estancias strung together between the Pacific Ocean in the west and the Atlantic ocean in the east. In fact, Torres del Paine National Park was an estancia before it became a National Park.

Some of the estancias in southern Patagonia do not offer Wifi or mobile phone coverage giving you the opportunity to switch off and rediscover the simple joys of being present as you disconnect from beeping phones and reconnect with nature. Live the life of a gaucho as you ride out with the elusive cowboys of the south into the gargantuan landscapes where you are unlikely to see another human. Or enjoy hiking, fishing, exploring or just sitting and watching the changing light across the landscapes with family and friends, free of the distractions of modern life.

Destinations
Our Recommendation

We were the first company to seek out estancia-based accommodation in the area of Torres del Paine with the introduction of our Estancia Ride where clients horse ride from ranch to ranch (a ride we still offer today). In fact, we are very proud to have been instrumental in the development of some of the local estancias for tourism and we are still the experts when it comes to this form of agritourism in the area. Spending time on an estancia will expose you to the raw beauty and landscapes of Patagonia as you learn about the customs, the history, the people and the wildlife that make this region so special.

Summary

Chile and Argentina, particularly Patagonia, contain vast and accessible wilderness areas for those seeking to escape the confines of urbanisation and technology. In Chile, the dramatic landscapes of Torres del Paine provide an expansive playground for explorers, adventurers and wildlife enthusiasts. Tierra del Fuego is wilder still and largely untouched. The Atacama Desert, one of the driest places on Earth, offers a surreal environment where visitors can disconnect while gazing at the stunning night skies. Argentina’s Patagonia region, with its sprawling glaciers, pristine lakes, and towering peaks offers countless opportunities for isolation and solitude. Iguazu Falls, shared by Argentina and Brazil, is an awe inspiring natural wonder that provides a powerful reminder of the majesty and tranquility found in nature.

For road trippers, the Carretera Austral in Chile, Highway 40 in Argentina and Chile’s Tierra del Fuego offer a chance to linger in some truly off grid and remarkable empty places.

Both countries have made significant investments in preserving these natural spaces, ensuring they remain unspoiled and accessible. Initiatives such as the creation of new national parks, the expansion of protected areas and the promotion of sustainable tourism demonstrate a commitment to maintaining these wilderness areas for future generations.

In a world where densely populated cities and constant connectivity have become the norm, the wild, untamed landscapes of Chile and Argentina provide a vital antidote, offering the peace and rejuvenation that only nature can provide.
