Welcome to the Team
Lian Hayes
Founder, International Sales

Lian's primary job is to ensure every client's trip runs smoothly and that BlueGreen Adventures continues to offer innovative, authentic and well planned itineraries.

After 10 years spent managing key accounts for a large news agency in the City of London, she decided there must be more to life and headed to South America. After time spent in Peru, Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina it was southern Chile that captured her heart. Her passion is horse riding and she has been riding most of her life. Nowadays she spends more time at the laptop and less on the pampas, but wherever she is, her number one concern is maintaining BlueGreen's trademark of authenticity, quality and uniqueness. English, Spanish and some French spoken.

Claudia Herrera
Domestic sales, Reservations and Marketing

Claudia studied tourism at the Universidad de Magallanes in Punta Arenas where she was an active member of the University Mountain Team. In addition to climbing famous peaks she learnt a lot about the Patagonian environment.

Claudia is truly an expert in the region. Testament to this are the five years she spent working as Administrator and sub-Administrator in Refugios and Park shelters including Grey, Pehoe and Dickson. She has spent the past ten years managing trip logistics, operations and guides.

The warmth of her personality combined with her unending professionalism endear her to everyone she meets.

Francisco Barria Barrientos (Panchi)
General Manager, Chile

A Patagonian native, Panchi is the cog of the BlueGreen wheel. Professional, well organized and unflappable he has the ability to handle a multitude of different tasks while maintaining a smile on his face. Committed to BlueGreen's ethos of maintaining trip quality while showing sensitivity and support to local people wildlife and places, Panchi is a true Patagonian spirit.

His experience in the park covers just about its entire range having spent the last 15 years cooking for groups in every corner.

Sabine Caroline Barrios
Riding, Hiking and Multi-Activity Guide

Graduate of both Tourism in Santiago and Cultural Studies at the University of Magallanes, Sabine is a relative newcomer to the Blue Green family but she regularly gets requested back from returning clients and has quickly become one of our favoured riding and hiking guides.

Her warmth, enthusiasm, easy going nature and ever present smile make her a wonderful companion on the trail. Horse riding is her passion but she remains completely dedicated to her craft whether she is hiking up into the French Valley or riding out to a remote gaucho puesto.

She has bags of energy and is always up for that extra hike in a hidden valley or exploring the less known trails in the region.

As with all Bluegreen's guides, Sabine's unending professionalism, loyalty, dedication and hard work make her a credit to the team and a pleasure to travel with.

Jorge Rozas (Guata)
Hiking and Multi Activity Guide

Also from Punta Arenas, Guata makes up the other half of the 'baldies' super team of expert local guides. Advanced expertise on the history of Chile and Patagonia as well as flora and fauna specialist. Nols Certified kayaking and hiking leader, Wilderness First Responder and South America overland expeditioner.

Having spent the past 14 years working in just about every inch of Torres del Paine National Park, he knows the area better than anyone and loves nothing more than spotting flora or fauna well off the beaten path.

Knowledgeable, cheerful, loyal and professional Guata speaks English as well as his native language of Spanish. Jorge spends his winters in the central Andes mountains snowboarding and has travelled extensively in Europe. He also has a knowledge of French.

Gabriela Martinez
Hiking and multi-activity guide

A visual communications graduate from Argentina Gabriela is passionate about nature. Over the years she has completed an impressive array of courses including Wilderness First Responder and intensive first aid. Gaby has been guiding trips for six years in Patagonia and Torres del Paine including both soft adventure and more challenging treks such as the Circuit and other mountain trails.

Growing up immersed in nature she loved the freedom and open spaces of her childhood. Keeping a sensible distance from some of the wildlife in her back garden, including puma, she developed a deep respect and knowledge of the local flora and fauna and a passion for the wild and magical landscapes she played in as a child.

Mariana Diaz Coli
Finance

Mariana, known by her friends as Molly, is a Natalina through and through. Born in Puerto Natales she is a descendant of one of Patagonia's great pioneering families. Molly grew up on the historic, remote Estancia Margot where her family have farmed for centuries on land with no vehicle access. As a result Molly is infinitely resourceful and her talents are endless.

She joined the BG team in October 2011 where she immediately won the love of everybody she encountered with her charming personality and ability to see the funny side of every situation. A finance graduate from Magallanes University she has a broad knowledge and experience of administrative roles within the tourism industry. She is passionate about the region - having grown up on a horse exploring one of nature's finest playgrounds.

Whether in the office handling spreadsheets or at home on her family's farm, Molly is always enthusiastic and cheerful and we are very happy to have her as part of the team.

The Porters
A group of hard working, nature loving Patagonians most of whom were born in the region and with a wealth of mountain experience between them the porters have intimate knowledge of all the trails in the Park and surrounding areas. Their job is to carry cargo from one site to another always ensuring they cause minimal environmental impact. Fit and strong the porters are crucial to the development and success of our trips whether for scientific purposes, tourism or sports within our region.
