Field Operations, Logistics and Product Development (co-founder)
Certified by the Chilean guide service and a recognized official guide
in Torres del Paine National Park, Alec has worked as a wilderness guide
throughout South America since 1991. He is bilingual, having spent part
of his younger life in Ecuador. He possesses an in-depth knowledge of
the areas through which we travel, its history, cultures, traditions and
people. He has an infectious enthusiasm and passion for the Patagonian
landscape and this has proven to benefit those who travel with him.
Claudia Herrera
Office Manager and Agency Sales Liaison
A Patagonian native, Claudia has recently been promoted to a new position handling agency sales. She will be handling all bookings for both scheduled and custom trips working closely with BlueGreen's worldwide network of specialist agents. After finishing her studies
at the Universidad de Magallanes in Punta Arenas, Claudia studied
Tourism. During this course she was a member of the University Mountain
Team where in addition to climbing some famous peaks, she learnt a lot
about her immediate environment.
Claudia is truly an expert in the region. Testament to this are the 5 years she spent working as Administrator and sub-Administrator in Refugios and Park shelters including Grey, Pehoe and Dickson. Claudia has spent the past 3 years handling our trip logistics - she has an absolute wealth of knowledge. The warmth of her personality combined with her unending professionalism endear her to everyone she meets. She is a valuable and key member of the BlueGreen team.
Jorge "Guata de Pan" Rozas
Riding, Hiking and Multi Activity - Head Guide
Also from Punta Arenas, Guata makes up the other half of the 'baldies'
super team of expert local guides. Advanced expertise on the history of Chile and Patagonia as well as flora and fauna specialist. Nols Certified kayaking and hiking leader, Wilderness First Responder and South America overland expeditioner. Having spent the past 10 years working
in just about every inch of Torres del Paine National Park, he knows
the area better than anyone and loves nothing more than spotting flora
or fauna well off the beaten path. He will be leading our riding and
multi activity trips this year. Knowledgeable, cheerful, loyal and professional
Guata speaks English as well as his native language of Spanish. Jorge spends his winters in the central Andes mountains snowboarding and has travelled extensively in Europe. He also has a knowledge of French.
María Beatriz Castro.
Guide Riding, Trekking and Multi Activity.
Bea is originally from Santiago de Chile. She discovered Patagonia while on holiday and, seduced by its beauty, she decided to stay. That was in 1996. Now it is her workplace and hometown.
Her passion for adventure sports and her university background in fine arts and mountaineering have steered Bea towards an outdoor life. She is happiest when immersed in nature and working in the pristine wilderness of Patagonia. She is an experienced mountaineer and hiking guide in addition to being a capable horsewoman and able kayaker.
In addition to southern Chile, she has led trips through Brazil, Bolivia, the north of Chile and Argentina. She has worked on local environmental projects and film production services. She is fluent in French and English and is a Certified Wilderness First Responder and “Leave no trace” monitor granted by the National Outdoors Leadership School.
Bea joined the BlueGreen team 4 years ago. Her faultless professionalism and passion for the region benefit every client that travels with her. She takes excellent care of all the details and needs of her guests allowing them to enjoy the fantastic scenery and unforgettable magic of Patagonia. An excellent cook, her hobbies are yoga, gardening and traditional Thai massage.
Erigardo Mancilla
Hiking Guide and Cook
Hailing from Punta Arenas, Erig always gets our groups' favourite chef
award! He speaks good English and has endeared himself to every group
he has travelled with. Erig has been leading and cooking for BlueGreen
for 5 years and has become a valued and trusted member of the team.
His new role is based out of Estancia Tercera Barranca where he will
be taking clients out on private excursions into the Torres del Paine
National Park and surrounding countryside sharing his local expertise
and warm, relaxed personality
Miguel Angel Chacana
Cook/guide - Hiking/Multi Activity
From the old world port of Valparaiso and making up half of the 'baldies'
duo, Chacana's enthusiasm and endless energy has made him a firm favourite
with the groups he has accompanied. His local knowledge is only surpassed
by his friendships with every park ranger, gaucho, waiter, rancher,
boat captain, cook and driver in most of Chile. Everybody loves Chacana!
Cooking creative, wholesome Chilean meals in the remotest environments
is his speciality and he will be found cooking on our hiking, riding
and multi-activity trips this season.
Nadia Vossen
Hiking Guide
Of Belgian origin but passionate about her adopted country Nadia speaks English and Spanish fluently and German and French to a good standard. Her native language is Flemish. Married to a Chilean and mother of a 5 year old daughter, Nadia has bags of energy, is responsible and flexible and has proved herself a capable and professional guide. Nadia has travelled extensively in Chile from the north to Cape Horn, she has worked with native communities in Chile and Bolivia. She also has extensive experience working with disadvantaged children. Enchanted by the landscapes and people of southern Chile she now combines family life with her new life of guiding BlueGreen clients through the magical place that is now her home.
